Obituary of Greta RAJAKARUNA (Nee Wijetunga)

September 11, 1927– Kurunegala, Sri Lanka

January 28, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Greta Rajakaruna, beloved wife of the late Ernest Rajakaruna, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the age of 92 years.

Greta and Ernest were married on January 1, 1953 and immigrated to Canada on May 16, 1990.  One of Greta’s accomplishments was that she passed first in her class, as a nurse.  She enjoyed music, reading, watching wildlife and gardening.  She especially enjoyed her roses. Her favourite poems were Tiger, Tiger burning bright and Daffodils. Her favourite sayings were “I love you” and “l love that little dog.” 

Greta is survived by her daughters, Nelun Rajakaruna, Maya Lansdown, Kshanika De Silva; son-in-law Stephen Lansdown; her grandchildren, Roshanara Seimon, Phillip Lansdown, Heather Birky, grandson-in-law Marty Birky; and her great-granddaughter Myla Birky.

Greta was predeceased by her loving husband Ernest Rajakaruna, her parents, four sisters and her beloved dog Sophie,whom she loved dearly.
