Obituary of Lillian LONG

January 15, 1920 - February 5, 2020

      

Shortly after celebrating 100 years of living and loving, Lillian joined her husband to be with her Lord and Saviour on February 5, 2020. 

 

Lillian Long was the oldest of five children, born on the family farm in a log cabin in the middle of winter. When she was 18 she ventured off and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. She was stationed in several different places but her favorite posting was Patricia Bay on Vancouver Island.When WWII ended, Lillian took a hairdressing course and moved to Kelliher where she met her husband, Rod Long.  Their journey together took them to Dummer, Glenavon, Weyburn, Regina and eventually Airdrie. 

 

Lil was active with the Anglican Church and Eastern Star.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, needlepoint, crocheting and knitting.  She was an avid reader and had an interest in current affairs. She will be remembered for her love of games (especially dice), her witty sayings, love, kindness and a listening ear for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. 

 

She will be sadly missed by her son Ashley (Barb); daughters Audrey Bergen and Leslie Leontowich (Duane); grandchildren, Andrea Nelson (Ken), Ryan Long (Lisa), Michael Long (Adriane), Meigan Bergen (Leigh), Paul Bergen (Joanne), Fayth Bergen, Gabrielle Bergen (Rob), Sarah Leontowich (Dave), Luke Leontowich; ten great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law Jack Archibald; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband; parents Harry & Olive Wales; two grandchildren Erica Long and Tamara Leontowich; brother Cecil (Doris) Wales; sisters Muriel (Clarence) Bunnah, Irene Archibald, and Marjorie (Bob) Bunnah.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Clements Anglican Church (10080 – TWP Rd 262 Balzac, Alberta) on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the family residence.
