Obituary of Dr. Carol WINNICK

April 1, 1944 – Vegreville, Alberta
February 21, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Dr. Carol Winnick, a beautiful, kind, gentle and generous soul, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the age of 75 years.

Carol graduated from the University of Alberta Dentistry in 1969 and received her 50 year award in September 2019. She was a caring gentle dentist loved by her patients and staff. Her love of travel and adventure took her to many places around the world. Kona, Hawaii was a favorite. Volunteer dentistry took her to Africa, Dominica, and the Dominican Republic. She joked as her bucket list of travel got shorter - saying we'll watch the DVD! Her lifelong love of higher learning led her to taking many extra courses in dentistry, sailing, computers, photography, Spanish, sky diving, and she was a bronze medallion swimmer.  She also encouraged and mentored others to strive for educational goals. In 1973 Kel purchased her dream home, Rainbow Ridge Ranch. Many fun and laughter filled gatherings were held at her home with her friends giving a whole new meaning to laugh until it hurts. Her sense of humour was beyond compare! There are many pets waiting to greet her on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge and her present pets Shaye, a border collie, kitty Coal, and Sven a Norwegian Fjord horse all miss her terribly.

Kel is survived by her friend and life-partner of forty-five years, Regina Koshlay, her dear niece Dr. Susan Petryk and husband Dr. Ahmad Moustapha, and their children, great-nieces Aisha, and Maryam and great-nephews Hamza and Muhammad; nephew Bob Petryk and his wife Melanie, and their children, great-niece Anika, and great-nephews Austin and Emory. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Dr. Mike Petryk and sister Pat.

She was predeceased by her beloved mom Olive in 2007 and her dad William in 1954.

Many thanks to the team at Rapid Access Unit at South Health Campus. Dr. Stewart and Dr. Ren, the care was stellar! Thank you Dr. B. Pujara for your kind care.
