Obituary of Guillermo (Bill) A. IRVINE

December 18, 1953 - Buenos Aires, Argentina
February 21, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Bill Irvine beloved husband of Veronika Irvine (nee Varhelyi) of Calgary passed away on Friday, February 21st, 2020 at the age of 66 years. He passed peacefully after a courageous seven year battle against Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis.

Besides his loving wife Veronika, Bill is survived by his mother Alicia, his sister Laura (Victor), one niece and two nephews, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his father Guillermo M.

Bill was a dedicated student. He received a Diploma in Chemical Technology, followed by a degree in Chemical Engineering from the National University of Technology of Buenos Aires. He and Veronika married in 1980 and moved to Canada in 1982.

Bill continued studying at the University of Calgary and was awarded his Master of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1986. From 1987 to 2000, Bill worked with Reid Crowther Holdings Inc. as a specialist in the areas of hydrocarbon processing, water treatment, and hazardous waste management. He continued his career with Earth Tech (Canada) Inc. from 2000 until 2006 as a technical department manager. Bill then started his own consulting firm to provide specialist environmental engineering services until 2013 when his illness prevented him from continuing. Bill was a registered Professional Engineer with APEGA.

Bill enjoyed nature and absolutely loved the mountains in Alberta and British Columbia. He was a perfectionist and meticulous in everything he did.
