Obituary of Sheila SARTORIO (nee Kovach)

July 19, 1953 – Blairmore, Alberta
February 17, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with a heavy heart the family announces that on Monday, February 17, 2020, Sheila Sartorio, beloved wife of thirty-four years of Italo Sartorio, passed away after a long fight with cancer. 

Sheila was born and raised in Blairmore, AB, to parents Cam and George Kovach. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Education, and later followed her love of music to receive a Diploma in Contemporary Music Performance. Sheila loved the joy of music, where singing and playing the piano were her two passions; often entertaining family members in her home and singing in St. Anthony’s choir for over ten years. Sheila was very involved in the community by volunteering at Meals on Wheels and sang for the Calgary philharmonic for over twenty years. Sheila will be deeply missed in the hearts of those she left behind.

Besides her loving husband of thirty-four years, Italo, she will forever be remembered by her parents, George and Camilla Kovach; two stepchildren, Gary and Kathy; her five grandchildren, Christopher, Kenton, Paula, Dallas, and Cole; as well as her three great-grandchildren, Michael, Nyah, and Charlie.

Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (5340 – 4th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
