Thomas Enyedvary, beloved husband of Gabriella Enyedvary of Okotoks, Alberta, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at the age of 86 years. Thomas became a professional mechanical engineer in Budapest, Hungary in 1956. He immigrated to Toronto, Canada in the aftermath of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. He met Gabriella, the love of his life, and her young daughter, Sylvia, while in Ottawa (1960). Gabriella and Thomas were married in June, 1962. Soon afterwards, he and his new family moved to Montreal where he worked as a mechanical engineer for Canadian National Railways, the National Research Council, and several small engineering firms. He chaired the charity ball organized by the Hungarian Association of Professional Engineers in 1967, with Governor General Rolland Mitchener as patron of the ball, in order to provide scholarships. Thomas later moved his family to Calgary in 1977 to work with Montreal Engineering. 

Upon starting a new career, Thomas and Gabriella opened Artnest Gallery (1985) in Calgary’s Glenmore Landing, which they eventually sold in 1998. Thomas loved to travel and looked forward to winter escapes in Mexico and summer holidays at Fairmont Hot Springs. Thomas’ favourite hobbies included wine making and photography. He was also an avid opera patron and had a great fondness for birds.

Thomas will be dearly missed by his wife, Gabriella, daughter and son-in-law  Sylvia and Patrick Thomas; his granddaughter Vanessa Thomas, nephews Gabor Kiss, Nick Csabi, Peter Kormendi, great cousin Ferenc Dira, nieces  Emese Szabo, Monica Sarvis, April Kay, and great niece Nicole Kay, and all those who loved him. He is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Malvina Enyedvary, his sister Magdi Szabo, and his grandson Phillip Thomas.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
