Obituary of Christa Maria HUTHMANN

December 18, 1933 – Marburg, Germany

February 24, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Christa Huthmann, beloved Mother and Oma passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, February 24, 2020 at the age of 86 years.

Christa was born in Marburg Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1952.  A year later she married the love of her life, Werner.  They lived in Swift Current, where they started their family, moving to Calgary in 1962.  She enjoyed her employment with the City of Calgary as a Lifeguard.  She also enjoyed volunteering within the Community with the YMCA, CBE, and Girl Guides of Canada.

Christa had a love for nature and everything outdoors. In the winter, she enjoyed skiing and winter walks, summer time was always for hiking, swimming, cycling, and dipsee doodling in Fish Creek Park.

Christa is survived by her children, Peter, Cindy (Bob) Boldick, and Gale Gillespie (John Fazekas); grandchildren, Lyndsay, Erin, Daniel, Randi, Sean, and Kaila; and great-grandchildren, Ryllie, Clara, Holly, Atlas, and Cooper; and sister Helga.

A Celebration of Christa’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.  Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
