Obituary of Marga Elsa KURZMAUL (nee SEIDEL)

August 22, 1925 – Leipzig, Germany

February 15, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Marga Kurzmaul of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the age of 94 years at the Walden Care Facility.

Marga was born in Leipzig, Germany on August 22, 1925. She moved to Schwarzenbach an der Saale in 1945 where she married Alfred Georg Kurzmaul. Marga and her family immigrated to Montreal, QC, Canada in 1956. Later, she and Alfred relocated to Calgary, AB in 1989 to join their son and his family.

Marga enjoyed crocheting, knitting and baking. She and Alfred enjoyed travelling Europe and they loved spending time together, taking off to warmer climates. Marga and Alfred took many walks in the mountains and cross country skied together in the winters.

She will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

Marga is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Vern and Elizabeth; her grandchildren, Kristina, Matthew (Josie); and two great-grandchildren, William and Sebastian. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred on December 23, 2016.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
