Obituary of Astrid Alfreda MCCORMICK (nee Michaud)
January 10, 1942 – Grand Falls, New Brunswick
February 27, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta
Astrid McCormick of Calgary, AB, peacefully passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the age of 78 years.
Astrid was born in Grand Falls, NB, on January 10, 1942. She married Greg McCormick on September 5, 1964 and moved to Fernie, BC, in 1970. Astrid moved to Calgary in 1993 to be closer to her son and daughter. Astrid had a loving and outgoing personality, which endeared her to many of her children’s friends and school mates, who also called her Mom. She loved to cook and bake for family and friends, and opened her home to those that needed comfort. She loved to travel and was often on day trips with friends to unique locations in and around Calgary. Astrid adored her grandchildren and enjoyed taking them to the zoo or to Heritage Park. Astrid was always there to support them in their sports and artistic endeavours, attending countless recitals, functions, and events.
Astrid will be dearly missed by her daughter, Lynn; son, Wayne; daughter-in-law, Angie; and two grandchildren, Trinity and Sky. Astrid is also survived by her brother, Jovide Michaud; two sisters, Elda King and Gaetane Tomsic; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Astrid was predeceased by her parents, Claude and Germaine.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Community (800 – 85th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
