Obituary of June Blanche DERMER

June 10, 1926 - Kensington, London England
February 24, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

June Dermer of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2020 at the age of  93 years. 

June worked for twenty years in clothing sales and was a buyer for a big department store called Taylor's and Sons in Montreal.

June married John and arrived in Canada in 1946 as a War Bride. John passed when their youngest was one year old, leaving her with three kids to raise. June loved camping. We spent many summers in the state of Maine and the Maritimes. Every year Mom took us camping, first starting out with a big tent. Over the years we gradually moved up to a full trailer. Money was short but she managed to pay off the house and give us kids some happy memories.

June’s most memorable vacation was in Hawaii with Carol and Corry. As well as every spring she looked forward to the Mother’s Day run away to the west coast. A tradition that started over twenty-five years ago.

June’s favourite saying was “I'd like to leave an afterglow. I'd like the memories of me to be of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun. Think of the happy memories that I leave when life is done”.
 
She will be most remembered for her love of shopping.

June is survived by her daughter and sons-in-law, Cathy Dermer, Paul Greenwell, and Corry Harrison; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and  her sister Barabra Sawers, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. June was predeceased by her husband John, her children Roy Dermer and Carol Harrison; her brother-in-law Mike, and her parents, Albert and Doris Eversfield.
