Obituary of Robert (Bob) Rainey Armstrong

March 14, 1936 – Kerrobert, Saskatchewan
February 16, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Bob Armstrong passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2020, after battling prostate cancer.

Bob graced us with his presence on March 14, 1936 to Mary Eva (nee Machan) and James Glasgow Armstrong. He was raised in Kerrobert, SK, and it was there he met and then married Yvonne Franke in 1960. In 1956, he accepted a position with CP Rail as a mechanic but then realized his potential as an electrician. He moved to Calgary and this is where he stayed and expanded his family to five. Bob retired in 1999, after forty-three years of employment with CP Rail. Although he did do some traveling, he mostly liked staying at home enjoying family and friends, and playing bocce.

Bob is survived by his wife Yvonne, children, Robert, Darren (Cathy) and Leanne; grandchildren, Cassandra, Colby, Dalton, Tyler, and Darby; and brother Jim (Margaret). He was predeceased by his parents, James and Mary; sisters, Rose and Eva; and son-in-law Dwight.
