Obituary of Velma May BEEBE

Velma passed away in Calgary, Alberta, on Friday, February 28, 2020 at the age of 72 years.  

She was born on May 8, 1947 to Mary (nee Tattam) and Eddie Beebe in Peace River, Alberta. After completing High School in Peace River, Velma moved to Edmonton where she worked for the Public Library. In 1969 she enrolled at the University of Calgary to obtain her Bachelor of Education Degree. She taught in Swan Hills, Caroline, and finally Calgary where she was a teacher-librarian and classroom teacher at Queen Elizabeth School. Velma loved all animals, especially her Chow-Chow dogs and her cat, Princess Nutmeg. She was an avid reader, a skilled quilter and card maker.  Her most memorable vacation was a tour of the quilt shows and shops in the northern United States.  

Velma is survived by sisters, Edna Bakken of Sundre, Alberta, Dorothy Harvie and brother-in-law Doug Harvie of Calgary; plus two nieces, Alison Bakken of Sundre, and Heather (Glenn) Greenfield of Blackie, Alberta; as well as many cousins and friends.
