Obituary of Kenneth (Ken) Wing Kin WONG

June 2, 1931- Hoi Ping, China

March 1, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

The family of Kenneth Wong announces with great sadness his passing on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Peter Lougheed Hospital.

He was born in Hoi Ping, China on June 2, 1932 and immigrated to Calgary, Canada in 1951.  He was predeceased by his devoted wife Chong Tang Wong; son Bill Wong, and daughter Helen Wong.  He is survived by his sons and daughters, Ed, Lillian, Howard, Mealine, Glen, James; his granddaughters, Melissa, Jennine, Annalise, MacKenzie); daughters and son-in-law’s, Erwin, Jill, Laura, and  Grace; and immediate extended family, James Power and family.

Ken was a former Chef at Glencoe Club, Calgary.  He greatly enjoyed cooking for his family and was the basis of great memories of the family gathered together loving what he did best. His recipes will be passed down to be enjoyed by the family and future generations. In his spare time, he was an 'arm chair' fisherman rarely catching anything more than a minnow but enjoyed being in the outdoors.  He also loved gardening with his colourful floral arrays of peonies at the front of the house including a vegetable patch in the back yard that supplemented his fantastic culinary marvels.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North Calgary, AB) on Friday, March 6, 2020 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 2:30 p.m.  Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s park Cemetery.
