Obituary of Bertha Anastasia HAMILTON

June 14, 1938 – Allan, Saskatchewan
March 3, 2020 – Okotoks, Alberta

It is with deep regret we announce the passing of Bertha (Bertie) Hamilton to all whose lives she touched, on March 3, 2020 as a result of her battle with cancer. After a two month stay in hospice care, Bertie passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 81 in Okotoks, AB.

Born Bertha Martel in Allan, SK on June 14, 1938, Bertie was the daughter of a large farming family. Leaving her home at a young age, Bertie met life head on with her tenacious, bold and outgoing personality. As one of the first female bartenders of her time, it was clear that Bertie was a trail blazer in her own right, never backing down from any challenge.

Bertie married Bryan on July 5, 1975 and adopted twins, Jay Jay and Angie, in the summer of 1978. A country girl at heart, Bertie and Bryan raised their children on an acreage outside of Calgary, AB. Together, they provided a loving household full of adventure, imagination and of course, an abundance of animals. Throughout the years, Bertie spent much of her free time on the golf course or at the casino with her dear friends and family. Whether enjoying a book under the sun at their Palm Springs home, or sharing a laugh with her loved ones at their Mara Lake cabin, Bertie always enjoyed life to the fullest. Above all, Bertie valued her time with her children, grandchildren, nieces and extended family.

Kind-hearted, generous and gracious, Bertie continuously offered a helping hand to all who required it. Always there to brighten the lives of others, Bertie has been an inspiration to many. Forever in their hearts, Bertie will be deeply missed by her adoring family and beloved friends.

At Bertie’s request, no service will be held.
