Condolences
Our sincerest condolences Alex, Ally, Marcus and Emily. We are so saddened to hear of Glenda’s passing. Glenda was always such a kind, caring, loving “mom” to our daughter Alea. Alea spent countless hours playing at your home and Glenda always made sure she felt so loved and welcome. Glenda will always be remembered with much love by our family. XO Melissa, Kevin & Alea
Glenda was a wonderful colleague and an inspirational mentor for many. She will be remembered for bringing the best out in all of us who she touched in her time at the University - we will carry her with us in our careers with gratitude.

I was a patient and a colleague of Glenda's for the last ten years, and I have been incredibly appreciative of her in both roles. She was always kind, compassionate, helpful, very well-informed, affirming, respectful, humble, and available. I will miss her greatly. I am saddened at the loss of such a wonderful person. To her family, I hope that reading these notes will make you even more proud of her, as you perceive what a hugely positive impact she had on so many lives. May you cherish your memories together as you grieve your tremendous loss.
Dr Glenda MacQueen was Michelle's psychiatrist in the mood clinic... She's a really kind, beautiful and amazing human being! She was a great listener and authentic person. She showed empathy and displayed genuine care for her patients. We were truly shocked to hear about her passing. It's our hope that her family continues to prosper and thrive.
Our sincere condolences to Alex, Ally, Marcus, and Emily... The obituary was very moving. May God bless you and keep you safe. Rest in Peace, Dr. MacQueen.

I have known Glenda for many years. She was a wonderful instructor, and person of great inspiration! My deepest condolences to her family and colleagues. She will be dearly missed. Thank you Glenda for all the good you did in the world!
To the family,
Glenda was a wonderful speaker! I attended several of her very clear, dynamic and excellent psychiatric lectures. This obituary was one of the most loving and well-written ones that I have ever read.
Sincere condolences at this sad time,
Iris Kumpula, M.D., FRCP (C)
Glenda gave the best "Lecture of a Lifetime" at the University of Calgary. Marvellous teacher.
My deepest sympathy to Glenda's Family. I had the privilege of benefitting from Dr. Mcqueen 's keen research eye, sharing stories about our children attending WIC in Glenda's office, and as the board chair seeing Marcus graduate. Glenda was an individual that was able to so much and yet was so humble as a scholar, woman, mother, and colleague.
My mother was a caregiver to Glenda and Alex's children in Ontario back in the late 90s, early 2000s. I had my first child around that time. Glenda was so gracious and offered to my mom to bring my daughter with her to Glenda and Alex's. In the few times I visited their home and had the opportunity to meet Glenda, I remember her being so warm, friendly, gentle and caring. May all the beautiful memories of her be eternal. My condolences to Alex and the children.

Even in my sadness I smile as I remember listening to Glenda present at various medical events...her knowledge and passion evident in every word and gesture, her stories of her patients and how we can all learn if we listen well, her love of her work and her family. I am blessed that I was able to talk with her with her about the work we do as physicians ...and to never stop listening, exploring, learning and living. May we remember and honor all that Glenda gave to this world.
Glenda was a wonderful mentor and colleague. She was a model of a leader and clinician in our department. Our department was made better when she made the choice to join us and she left a legacy that many of us are still trying to live up to. She will be sorely missed by all of us.
Glenda was my practicum supervisor in 1998-99. Gracious, supportive, and discerning, she was always shining a light on the darkness. I have never met anyone like her, and am forever grateful for that privilege.
I first met Glenda as a medical student at McMaster University, and she truly inspired me to enter psychiatry. I so admired her incisive intellect, clinical acumen, wonderful mentorship, humour, solidarity and so much more. I have a memory of a special lunch/tea we shared at a tea room in Dundas, after I had left Hamilton. Glenda was a one of a kind person. My heart goes out to her family at this time.
Our family had the pleasure of meeting Glenda when our children were young. Alex and Rick were work colleagues and our families found we were vacationing in PEI at the same time. We were invited to their cottage and treated to a wonderful homemade dinner and east coast hospitality. Glenda’s kindness and generosity made our visit so special. Her mussels are still the best we have ever eaten and her knowing smile serving our fussy children hotdogs is still a favourite memory of that trip.
Thinking of you Alex and your children during this difficult time. Rick and Joanne Owens
Bright, Beautiful, Loving, Sharing, Leading- Glenda was all this and so much more. We were so privileged to to have her in our Psychology graduate program. It has been 15 years since I visited Glenda and her family at their family home in Hamilton. I will cherish that memory. My sincere condolences to Alex, Ally, Marcus, and Emily
Saddened by the news of Glenda's passing. She was a super clinician, a world-class researcher, and a wonderful administrator, but above all a wonderful human being who touched the lives of so many of us with her caring, warmth and kindness. My condolences to her family.
You are missed Glenda,

To Glenda’s beautiful family, I extend my most heartfelt condolences. I am so proud to be able to say that I knew Glenda. Her brilliance, sweetness, and compassion for everything had no limits! Rest In Peace Glenda.
Sincerely,
Karen (Vokey) Gillis (Glenda’s junior high/Home Ec teacher)
I am grieved to hear the news but believe Glenda did so much to help/touch so many people (not just clinically) that we should all be happy she was here.
My most sincere condolences to the family. I met Glenda about 20 years ago as a colleague. Rapidly, I came to understand that Glenda didn’t make the difference between a colleague, an acquaintance or a friend. She treated everyone with the same respect and took the time to listen to everyone equally. Any meeting was not about just a meeting with Glenda. It was about talking of our spouses, kids and how we were doing. Glenda was true to her words; she was never too busy for people in need of her help. I will always remember her smile when she would be listening, and then the soft voice that would follow.
Glenda you have touched and inspired so many of us; for ever, I will be grateful.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

We met Glenda through our daughter. Glenda was her supervisor initially and later became a close friend and mentor. She was always there for our daughter as they both lived in Calgary the last few years. Most of the times that we visited our daughter from Ontario, Glenda always made it a point to invite us for one of their fabulous dinners cooked by Alex and her. She was always kind, compassionate, friendly and caring. Yes, she excelled in her field and was a world class researcher, but the Glenda we saw was also a wonderful human being, a devoted family person and very generous at heart. We are incredibly saddened by her untimely passing. The world has lost an exceptional person. Our deepest condolences to Alex, Ally, Marcus and Emily.

We are cousins of Glenda, and most of us grew up, like her, in Nova Scotia. We are grieving for her—we are filled with sadness that her life ended when she still had so much to give. We will remember Glenda for her kindness in our own times of need and for her brilliance, which she exhibited from an early age. May the research work she did on major depression live on, easing the suffering of countless people. All our love to her family.
