Obituary of Carol BASAR

June 29, 1926 – Polje, Croatia

April 5, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Carol Basar, beloved wife of the late Michael Basar, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020 at the age of 93 years.

Carol made Summerland home for her first 37 years in Canada and Calgary for the remaining 20 years. During her time in Summerland, Carol lovingly tended to abundant vegetable and flower gardens, fruit trees and grape vines. She spent countless hours cooking, preserving, and baking.  She generously shared the fruits of her labour with those who were lucky enough to be among her family and friends.

Carol was accomplished with crocheting and knitting; many of her blankets still grace beds and couches to this day. Carol had an unparalleled flare for the linguistic arts and story-telling, to which the rest of the family aspires.

Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories.

Carol leaves behind her devoted and loving daughter, Josephine Mihoc; her granddaughters, Tina Mihoc (Douglas Ramshaw) and Amy Mihoc-Barnes (Ryan Barnes); and, her great-granddaughters Mia and Irelynn Barnes. Carol was pre-deceased by her cherished nephew Peter Culig, and her sister Mary Jaklin of Calgary.

Towards the end of Carol’s life, she received care from many at the Foothills Hospital and the Brentwood Care Centre, to whom the family would like to give special thanks, particularly to Lulu,  Claudia, Sonam, Kath, Tyler, Dr. Liu and especially Dr. Sengar.

Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Carol’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
