Obituary of Joan Isabel KOOL

June 21, 1927 – Fort A-la-Corn, Saskatchewan
March 28, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Kool, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the age of 92 years.

Joan accomplished much through her long life. She was strong, independent and adventurous. She welcomed all into her home, a grandmother to many more than just her own grandkids. Joan was an adventurer, traveling from New York to Ecuador, Las Vegas to Hawaii. She talked about planning holidays and new adventures with her family until the end. She loved the arts, evenings at the opera or dancing in the kitchen to Elvis Presley’s, “Cant Help Falling in Love”. She was an amateur photographer, her grandchildren her favorite subjects to photograph. She enjoyed summers at the lake, supporting Tiger on the golf course, and cheering on the Canadian curling teams. She was a woman who lived with no regrets. Her heart and door were always open. Joan will be remembered with every bite of angel food cake or spread of crab apple jelly. She will be remembered for her loving heart, her regal presence, her quick whit and humor and as the instigator of all our food fights.

She will be forever remembered by her children Ross (Vania), of Calgary, AB; Linda (Ron), of Okotoks, AB, and Bob, of Okotoks, AB; grandchildren Alex, Adyson, Anita, Chad (Christine), Dawn, Sam, Mickaela, all of Calgary, AB; great-grandchildren Riley, Connor, Sabrina, Chase and Tyson, all of Calgary, AB; sister Yvonne, sister-in-law Rose; niece Shannon, and nephew William; as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten. Joan was predeceased by her brothers, Stuart, Ross and Dale; brother-in-law John, and nephew John Junior.
