Condolences
My condolences to Gary's family on your loss. I worked with Gary at SAIT for a number of years in the IT field and he was always a great resource willing to share his knowledge and assist with technical problems. His scripting skills were still in use when I retired, and the email system he helped put in place, continues to serve staff and students today.

Dear Lesly:
Gary was a great trail mate on our hikes on those fantastic trails in Waterton Lakes National Park of Canada and Glacier National Park, Montana, USA. We could always count on him to know the way.
He shall always remain in our memory.
Our hearts are with you as you bear the silence made by his passing.

Dear Lesley and family,
Although we knew that Gary was struggling in the last year, we were very pleased that he and Lesley were able to join us for a visit and glass of wine this past Christmas, as they had often done before. Gary loved the country life and the outdoors which was so easily available at their home. He was a wonderful neighbour for everyone on the "hill". He was always helpful and a very nice man.We will miss him greatly.
Sincerely, Carol and Jack Moore.
SAIT's ALIVE (The Association of Retired and Former employees of SAIT and their spouses) extend their deepest sympathy to the MacDonald Family in the passing of Gary.
A man of immense practicality, who could prime a cottage pump in spring, replace a septic tank on a rainy summer day, or do anything in between. Who knew how to "stream" music by "algorithm" before I'd even heard of either word. Someone whose depth of knowledge of the realm of information technology I would never even hope to grasp. An enthusiastic follower of the very real political comedy of our times. More importantly, a welcoming host, whether in a Toronto apartment long ago, or in his and Lesley's foothills home or mountain cottage over so many years. A sturdy and knowledgeable companion on many hikes in the Rocky and Flathead mountains. A man of great generosity who would listen carefully and respond with reason and understanding. Gary was a pillar of our family for more than 50 years. I could never have wished for a finer brother-in-law. My wife, Suzanne, and I will miss him greatly.
