Obituary of Thomas (Tom) Richard MILLS

June 15, 1948 – Vegreville, Alberta
April 14, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with a heavy heart that our family announces the passing of a wonderful father, grandfather, husband and friend. Age 71, Tom drifted away peacefully at 6:00 am on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at Agecare Glenmore, where he spent the last four years of his life making an impact on the lives of staff and residents with his big smile and sense of humour.

He will be forever loved and missed by his friends and family. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Marlene, and his sisters, Katherine and Peggy he leaves so many fond memories behind. Surviving Tom are his two children, Tommy (Marcia) and Stacey (Mark); four grandsons, Cameron, Patrick, Zachary and Samuel; sister Patricia; and brothers, David and Ned. All of those whose lives were touched by Tom will remember him for his sense of humour, big smile, dirty jokes, love of dogs, hockey, golfing and a good hot tub Caesar. Tom lived most of his adult life in Calgary and later Okotoks, but grew up in the Edmonton area and attended Victoria Composite High School and NAIT in the 1960s. Later, his best days were spent with friends and family at the hockey rink, on the golf course, beside the camp fire or relaxing on a tropical beach with Marlene and good friends.

A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Tom's service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
