Obituary of Gunhild Diderika VAN EYK (nee Hoogensen)

Gunhild’s yacht sails have caught Heaven’s wind. Shrouded in peace, her voyage into the universe is embraced. 

Gunhild van Eyk, beloved wife of the late Antonie van Eyk of Calgary, AB passed away on Friday, April 17, 2020 at the age of 96 years.

Born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Gunhild immigrated to Calgary in 1954 with her husband Antonie, and daughter Kristine. Gunhild was an ardent, life-long appreciator of classical music, books, theatre, and films, and an adorer of furry, four-legged friends.  She embraced all stages of life and valued simple pleasures.

Gunhild is survived and lovingly remembered, by her daughter Kristine (Fiona), brother Christiaan (Margaretha), nephews, Willem (Marie) and Arne (Jill), niece Gunhild (Jardar), and generations of extended family across the globe. She was predeceased by her loving husband Antonie.

At Gunhild’s request there will be no Funeral Service.
