Eileen Marie LLANOS

Obituary of Eileen Marie LLANOS

Eileen Llanos of Cochrane, AB, passed peacefully away at the age of 85 years.

Eileen is survived by her three children, Edwin and his wife Maureen of Ontario, Christopher of Jamaica, and Jacquie of Cochrane; three grandchildren, Bernard, Dominic and Chalce; and her siblings, Elizabeth, Edwin and Ronald. Eileen was predeceased by her husband, Noel, and her parents Enid and Cyril Blanc.

Eileen was born in 1934 in Trinidad, and, in 1955, met the love of her life, Noel, whom she married the following year. In February 1971, Eileen and Noel immigrated to Canada with their children. She moved for the sake of her children’s future but always missed the warmth of the tropics.

Settling in Calgary, Eileen was always a devoted mother and an active participant and volunteer in her Church. She had an open-door policy to all and she always could make space for a few more at the table even when money was tight, and food was limited. After her children graduated, Eileen started working at the Foothills Hospital as a Unit Aid. She embraced her job and came to be loved by her colleagues and patients. She worked tirelessly with a smile on her face and love in her heart.

After retirement, Eileen again gave her time and energy to her church community. She had a special place in her heart for the elderly and for many years volunteered with seniors. She was a devoted mother and generous grandmother. She was the granny who played rap for her granddaughter although she would prefer other music, spent endless hours playing ping pong with her grandsons, and was there for every play, band performance and game possible. She made sure that everyone had their favourite dish at the table and if any grandchild hinted at a meal, it was sure to appear no matter the effort. In later years, Eileen developed Alzheimer’s. Eileen was always known for her feisty character, determination, courage, kindness, and love. Though she may have lost the memory of those around her, Eileen never lost those qualities that made her so precious to all who knew her.

Eileen and family thank everyone for their kindness and support. In particular, we are grateful to Eileen’s independent care provider and the staff of Bethany Cochrane, for their exceptional care and kindness through her illness.

Due to Covid 19, a service will be planned for a later date. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Eileen’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
