Obituary of Mildred Eileen SEARS (nee Robinson)

SEARS, Mildred Eileen (nee Robinson)

Heaven got an angel on May 2, 2020, when our beloved Mom left this earth to join her husband, Sid, who passed away a mere 40 days ahead of her.

She leaves to mourn her five children; Sandy (John), Linda (Murray), Karen, Ted (Linda) and Susan (Jamie); eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Also grieving her loss are sisters; Lillian, Joan, (Doreen) Niki and Gladys; along with many extended family members.

Millie (aka Mim) was born and raised in Saskatoon, SK., to Florence and Edward Robinson on May 30, 1931. She was the seventh child of eleven. Mom was predeceased by son-in-law Tim and six siblings; Jim, John, Marion, Thomas, Bob and Eleanore.

In 1948 Mom began work as a secretary at the Quaker Oats Company in Saskatoon. After marrying Sid in 1950 and subsequent move to Melfort, SK., she worked at Valley Motors. As they started their family mom stayed at home with us kids and was an excellent homemaker. She had a knack for sewing and spent many hours behind that machine making clothes for us kids, later quilts, dolls, and pjs for all those grandchildren she loved so dearly. Her knitting and crafting brought her much joy and many dish clothes. Her love of cooking and baking was evident as they hosted many dinner parties with friends, and well into her 80’s when she would host large family gatherings. She absolutely felt the more the merrier. Outside the home, friends, card games, bridge groups, curling, par 3 golf games, walking, gardening and travelling were all enjoyable activities for Mom. She loved a good time, a good laugh, and a good glass of wine. She made many long lasting friendships while living in Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Port Moody, and Calgary.

We are heartbroken to have to say goodbye to our beloved Mom and Grandma. A celebration of Millie and Sid’s life will take place at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Millie’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
