Obituary of Marie Frances OGILVIE (née Braund)

July 18, 1924 – Edmonton, Alberta

May 9, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with much love and sadness that the family of Marie Ogilvie announces her passing on May 9 at the age of 95.

Marie is lovingly remembered by her sons, Garry Bruce of Calgary and Kevin Graham (Ashley) of Malibu California; daughter Susan Marie (Bob and daughter Jennifer and family) of Nanaimo B.C.; as well as nephews, David (Judy, children Alison and Steven); Robert ‘Bob’ (Sharon, children Benjamin and Alexander ‘Sandy’); niece Verna Lloy Pedersen (Bent and children Allen, Mary, Verna Ann, Judy and Susan ‘Sue’); and dear friends Irene, Monique, Claude, Fran and Clive.

Marie was predeceased by her husband of thirty eight years John ‘Jack’ Robert Ogilvie in 1983, and parents Eric and Evelyn Braund.

In the years following Jack’s death, Marie began to travel extensively, all the while wishing that he could be by her side. On her journeys she saw much of the world, falling in love with South Africa, Kenya, Bali, Molokai and New Zealand.

Her family and friends will always remember her self-reliance and strength of character.

The family wishes to thank the staff at The Lodge at Valley Ridge and Bow View Manor for their kindness and care while she was a resident. Sincere thanks also to the physicians and the staff on Unit 72 of the Foothills Medical Centre for their professionalism and compassion.

At Marie’s request, there will be no formal service. Please remember her with fondness, love and wonderful memories.
