Obituary of Julius Frank SZEPESI

May 12, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Julius (Jules) Frank Szepesi, beloved husband of Viola Szepesi (nee Schlaht) of Calgary, AB,   passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at the age of 86 years.

Jules was born in Sunnybrook, AB lived in Drumheller for a number of years before moving to Calgary where he attended Western Canada High School, establishing many cherished lifelong friendships during those years. In a career spanning 32 years, Jules worked as a purchasing officer for the City of Calgary until his retirement in 1989.  In his pastime he enjoyed curling and playing golf or just “shooting the breeze” over coffee .  Jules was very proud of his family, loved spending time with his grandkids and particularly enjoyed when the whole family managed to gather for trips to Hawaii and Hungary.

Besides his loving wife Viola, Jules is survived by son Darryl Szepesi (Stewart Bryden) of Calgary; daughters, Lori Szepesi (Tim Duthie) of Calgary and Jodi Szepesi of Calgary; four grandchildren, Joshua Szepesi of Vancouver, BC, Benjamin and Samuel Duthie both of Calgary, and Julia LaBorde of Calgary.

Jules was predeceased by his parents, Julius and Hermina Szepesi; sister Mary Sipos, brother-in-law Steve Sipos, Leroy Flamond, and Sandra Flamond.

Because of current conditions, a Private Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Shortly after the service there will be a recording of the service add to this obituary for everyone who was unable to attend.
