Obituary of Russell "Earl" HILL

April 6, 1930 – Pilot Mound, Manitoba

May 11, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Russell Hill of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020 at the age of 90 years.

When in his early teens, Earl's parents Russell and Viola moved the family to Moose Jaw, SK. After starting a lifelong career in the retail paint industry, Earl met and married his soulmate Edna (nee Frank). They married on May 8, 1954, and relocated to Brandon, Winnipeg, Edmonton and then settled in Calgary in 1972. Earl and Edna were devoted parents, grandparents and great-grandparents.  The Hill family home always had an open door policy for the neighborhood kids and extended family. Earl will always be remembered for his ability to come up with the strangest nicknames for everyone, his love of laughter and for always being such a good sport when being on the receiving end of practical jokes. 

Earl is survived by his children, David (Debbie), Darryl (Terri) Brenda, and Brian; grandchildren Jennifer, Shaun (Dawn), Jared, Darcy (Katrina), Shay, Lindsay, and Samantha; and great-grandchildren Cheyanne, Lily, Kenzie, Cohen, Juniper. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Reginald (Peggy), Henry and Otto; and sisters-in-law Eleanor (Bob), Ruth, Enid, Colleen and Norma. 

He was predeceased by his loving wife Edna in 2019, son Derrick in 2013, parents, Russell and Viola; siblings, Velma (Russell), Evelyn, Ross (Joyce) and in-laws Phil, Chris (Irene), Avis, Lizzy (George), Eva (Nick), Rose (Cecil), Del, Addie (Clifford), Grant and Jim.
