Obituary of Kathleen Winnifred LATHAM

December 13, 1949 – Calgary, Alberta
May 14, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Wendy Latham passed away peacefully in Calgary, AB, on Thursday, May 14, 2020. Our family was blessed to have an opportunity to say goodbye and be with her when she passed on.

Wendy grew up in Edmonton, AB, and in her early years she was an active member of the ski patrol in Alberta. Wendy moved to Calgary for nurse training at the Calgary General Hospital in 1969. Along with raising her children, she returned to university to get an education degree and spent many happy years working as a facilitator to help others live their best lives.

Wendy brought so much to the world. She was never happier than when she became a grandmother as it gave her a renewed sense of purpose and joy to dote on her grandkids with love and affection. She enjoyed babies, playing piano, reading, travelling the world, and spending time outdoors in nature (particularly at the lake and in Bowness Park in Calgary walking with her family). Wendy also had a special talent for story telling, and a bold fashion sense.

A genuine and kind woman, Wendy loved, supported, and accepted people just the way they were. Wendy will be dearly missed by not only her family, but by the many friends she made over the years including neighbours, co-workers, and at the YMCA where she volunteered.

Wendy is survived by her six children, Jodi Woollam, Jesse Nakaska, Josh Nakaska (Yen Ong), Ben Nakaska, Daniel Nakaska, Deborah Blair (Brendan); and her six grandchildren, George and Jane Woollam-Agnew, Lauren and Ashley Nakaska, and Sophia and Samuel Blair. Wendy is also survived by her three brothers, Dick Latham (Maureen), Pat Latham (Brenda), and John Latham.
