So sorry to hear this news. Our family knew the Rowse family as fellow parishioners at St. Luke's in Winnipeg. Such fine people..
Probably through that connection, it was noted we were both in Grad School at Minnesota at the same time (different disciplines) and at least once and maybe twice, John rode with me the 450 miles south from Winnipeg through North Dakota and Minnesota down to the Twin Cities. That's an eight hour drive. I think we both enjoyed the time -- and the getting there!
What a lovely guy and a fine gentleman. Calgary's gain I take it. Condolences to the family.

I am saddened to hear of John’s passing. Don and I always treasured our visits with you and John. We enjoyed his brilliant and quick mind, his quiet kindness and thoughtfulness. I know that John and Don were very close, not only as cousins but as friends and admired each other deeply. Dear Mili, my heart, thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. My deepest condolences to you and all the family. Love, Nellie
Mili, we are greatly saddened by news of John's passing and your grief. To help you through this difficult time, it might help you to know how we saw John as a person. To us, John was an outward gentle soul with a quiet presence. Belying his calmness though, was an intellectual force to be reckoned with, as John often worked tirelessly at the forefront alongside others, to address community development issues. Truly, he cared deeply and passionately for the betterment of his community. John was a positive light and his presence will be much missed. We are fortunate to have known him and called him, "Our friend and neighbour".
Please accept our sincerest condolences to you and your family.
Dear Mili, I was saddened to read about John's passing in the paper today. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Mili;
John and I were saddened to hear of the death of your husband, John. I remember him as a kind and intelligent colleague. We both remember, from the days of the theatre group, your stories of your courtship, starting with a swimming class. Both John and I thought highly of your husband, and it is our pleasure to have known him.
Liz and John Wilman
