May 8, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our father, Ian Watson, of Calgary, AB, on Friday, May 8, 2020 at the age of 89 years.

Ian was born in New Castle, England on May 5, 1931 and immigrated to Calgary with his wife and three children in April 1967.

He worked as a meat inspector for the federal government until he retired.

Ian had a number of tremendous losses over the years that affected him in many ways. His son Steven Watson, who died in a tragic accident, at the age of 7, in 1969; his son Scott Watson, 29, by suicide in 2000; and his beloved wife Jenny Watson, 62, from cancer in 2001.

Ian is survived by his son David Watson (Kathy Lundvall) of Calgary, his daughter Sue Patterson (Garth Patterson) of High River and daughter Caroline Watson (Bryan Crumb) of Calgary. Ian is also survived by his younger sister Shirley Keery (Stan), in England.

Although Ian was no stranger to grief and great loss, he still led a full life and enjoyed the company of his family and friends. He will be remembered by many for his story telling and his many sayings.

Ian’s family are asking for condolences, memories and pictures to be shared that can be used for his celebration of life which will be announced at a later date. Please share and view them on www.McInnisandHolloway.com
