Obituary of Ronald James GRUHLKE

December 23, 1947 – Edmonton, Alberta

May 15, 2020 – The Land (Red Deer County, Alberta)

Ron (Ronald) Gruhlke beloved husband of Michèle Gruhlke (nee Hanington) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020, at the age of 72 years.

Ron was born in Edmonton, AB on December 23, 1947. Ron married Michèle in 1967 and together they moved to Calgary, AB, Canada in 1970.

Ron loved to work at improving and renovating their campsite at the West Dixon Wilderness Association in Red Deer County. Ron and Michèle spent as much time as possible there.  Ron was fortunate to have spent his final hours there; in the place he loved the most.

Ron accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his close, loving family. He will be most remembered for his generosity and loving nature. Although his young life had been rough, he grew into a deeply caring and giving man.

Ron gave some of the best hugs anyone could ever get.

Besides his loving wife, Ron is survived by his daughter Jeanne, grandchildren Jadé and Lanre of Calgary; son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Angie of Edmonton; sister Frances Kelemen of Edmonton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many honorary family members and most notably Kassandra Franklin and her daughter Makaeda, Ron’s very favourite little girl. Ron was predeceased by his parents Hilda and Clarence Gruhlke of Edmonton.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, Michèle requests that you make a donation directly to the Calgary Drop-in Center at www.calgarydropin.ca/donate/.
