It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Mary Jean Stott on Monday, May 25, 2020 at the age of 90 years.

Mary Jean was born on June 29, 1929 in Revelstoke, BC to a CP Rail family. She and her older sister, Audrey, grew up in small railway mountain towns and had a lifelong love affair with the Rockies. As the girls entered high school, the family moved to Lethbridge where Mary Jean met, and married the love of her life, Reg Stott. In the mid 60’s, MJ, Reg and their young family moved to Calgary where among other things she enjoyed nursing, volunteering at the YMCA, teaching synchronized swimming, being a Ranger leader and traveling the world with Reg.

Mary Jean is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Reg, her daughters Deb (Dale Jess), Sharon (David Quilter) and Allison; her grandchildren, Kyla (Markus) and Joel (Meli), and many nieces and nephews including, niece Karen Duerden with whom MJ and Reg had a deep and special relationship. She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Jean Murdoch, her sister Audrey, her grandson Matthew, and Reg’s sister, brother, and sister-in-law Elizabeth, Alstead and Ethel.

In later years, MJ succumbed to dementia. We are thankful for all the community support that MJ received over the years. There were so many of you and we thank you all. From the bottom of our hearts, we are grateful to MJ’s loving caregivers Cecelia, Lucy and Tess who became part of her family. We couldn’t have done it without you.
