Ernest Hunter was called home by our Creator on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at the age of 65.

Born on May 14, 1955, Ernest is now survived by his wife of 17 years, Melanie; and his mother Lavina. He is also survived by his children, Ellery (Mandy), Ernestine (Darcy), and Erik (Renee); his siblings, Colleen (Conrad), Lola (Kevin), Louis (Keith), Patrick, Winston, Johnny (Zabrina), Debra Lynn, and Jason (Jolene); step-children, Melody, Kirk and Georgina; fourteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; close cousins, Michael, Vivian, (Peter), Richard, Delphine, Alvin, and Tina; Aunties Gwen and Barbara; Uncle Jeff (Evelyn); best friend Joe; nephews, TJ, Deshawn, Joe, and Kelric; as well as numerous relatives within the Big Crow, Brown, Cecil, Hunter, Kaquitts, Poucette, Rider, Twoyoungmen, Powderface, and Wildman families.

Ernest had strong beliefs in our traditions and culture. He treated everyone with respect. Ernest enjoyed playing hockey in his youth and was a goaltender for the Morley Tomahawks. He was a cowboy and hunter who enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. Ernest also liked to bead and attend round and two-step dances. He took pride in keeping his mother’s and his wife’s houses and yards clean.

Ernest was humble and greeted everyone with a smile and handshake. He always addressed relatives using kinship terms and loved to tease and joke with friends, family and those who knew him.

He was predeceased by his father Victor Charlie Poucette; sisters, Cheryl and Marilyn; brothers, Pat, Larry, Stephan, and Gurney; step-father Joe Brown; nephew Joey; nieces, Donene and Charmaine; brother-in-law Reggie; and grandparents Enos and Maggie Hunter.

Wake Services will be held at the Residence of Lavina Brown (Morley, AB) on Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31, 2020.

Funeral Services will be held at Residence of Lavina Brown (Morley, AB) on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.  Graveside Service to follow at Brown Cemetery (Morley, AB).  Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Ernest’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
