Obituary of Saveria MARASCO (nee D'AlFonso)

April 18, 1932 – Castelsilano, Crotone, Italy 

June 1, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Saveria Marasco (nee D’Alfonso) on Monday, June 1, 2020, at the age of 88 years.

Saveria was born on April 18, 1932, in the town of Castelsilano, Crotone, Italy. In August of 1956, she married the love of her life Domenico Marasco, and ten years later, they immigrated to Calgary, AB, with their three daughters, Rina, Maria and Pina. In 1972, they were blessed with their fourth daughter Gemma. Saveria worked hard and made countless sacrifices throughout her life to help provide for her daughters. She was the family matriarch who loved nothing more than to spend time with her loved ones and make sure they never went hungry. Saveria was always supportive and proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Saveria will be lovingly remembered for her immense strength, courage and tough love.

Saveria will be forever missed by her four daughters and sons-in-law, Rina (Giovanni) Marra, Maria (Luigi) Fabiano, Pina (Salvatore) Spadafora, and Gemma (Joe) Poletto; her twelve grandchildren, Teresa, Pat (Shauna), Domenico (Chiara), Rosie (Filipo), Serina (Gianfelice), Fiorella (Ron), Antonio, Maria (Tariq), Saveria (Anthony), Vito (Megan), Saveria, and Domenico; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Livia, Sophie, Giovanni, Gianmauro, Siena, Emma, Giulia, Gennaro, Gianluigi, Nawaaf, Talia, Giuseppe, and Gabriella. Saveria was predeceased by her parents, brothers, loving husband of fourty-nine years Domenico, and her granddaughter Livia Poletto. She joined her granddaughter Livia in heaven on her birthday.
