Obituary of Delores Mae SHYMANSKI (nee Armour)

October 29, 1932 – Nipawin, Saskatchewan

May 20, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Our hearts are shattered as we announce the passing of Delores Shymanski on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.

We no longer have our Mom, Grandma, Sister and Aunt with us to talk to spend time with or just to hold her hand.  We are comforted that she’s now with Dad, who was the love of her life, her soulmate and her bridge partner.  Mom and Dad met at an RCAF dance and as they say the rest is history! Mom had great tenacity raising three kids, all a year apart in age (no pull ups or formula back then! ) along with Dad. Mom obtained her nursing (RN) degree from the Royal Alex. She worked for thirty years starting in the Oil industry, then at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary. She lived an amazing and wonderful life alongside Dad and us three kids. We travelled the world with them during Dad’s teaching stints overseas in Africa and the Caribbean.  After coming home, there were more great years of traveling with them to Kimberley, Hawaii, Arizona and Alaska. We enjoyed skiing on weekends and bowling on Friday nights.   Mom and Dad were members for fifty plus years at the Calgary Winter Club, where Mom enjoyed tennis, badminton, curling, bowling, but the one great pleasure that Mom and Dad shared was bridge. They ran the bridge section at the club for many years and Mom taught bridge classes there and at her home. They played over four times a week, and after dad passed many great friends stepped up to fill in for the past ten years so that she could continue her love for the game. If we can all be so lucky!

Love you Mom....you will always be in all our hearts and have given us warm memories to last forever.  We never say goodbye only see you later.

A Public Graveside Service will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219 4 St NW, Calgary, AB T2M 3A6) on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Section P. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Lore’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

A very special thank you to all her bridge partners that gave her a simple pleasure! To all her friends ...make a pot of tea or hot chocolate (depending on her mood) then grab a good book, call family or friends, or turn on the TV ...put your feet up, relax and enjoy that small moment in time. Another special thank you to Dr.Meshesha, Adina, Lisa and all the wonderful, caring and compassionate staff of Unit 64 COVID.  The care given to our Mom in the short time she was with you was special and will never be forgotten.
