Obituary of Dina Elisabeth VAN OLM (nee Van Eijnsbergen)

September 15, 1935 – Dordrecht, Netherlands   
May 22, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Our beautiful Mom, Oma and Grandma passed away May 22, 2020. 

Dina will be missed by her children Mike, Ron (Sharon), Brian , Diana and Darlene (Wayne). She leaves behind her grandchildren Claudette, Chantelle, Jaimie, Trace, Greg, Bradly, James, Jared, Kyle, Ryan and Scott and great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a loving Step Mom Henny Van Eijnsbergen in Zwijndrecht, Netherlands. 

Dina immigrated from the Netherlands to Calgary in June 1953 when she was 18 years old.  Dina taught herself English within three months and then started a job at the Holy Cross Hospital. Dina met Dominicus (Mike) Van Olm who also was from Dordrecht and married him in 1955. Dina stayed home with all her children. When the last one left home she volunteered at Grace Hospital for many years.

Dina had many talents. She had the most amazing and beautiful voice. Sitting on her lap as a child listening to Classical music and Musicals and mom singing along was a daily occurrence.  Growing up Dina was surrounded by a musical family and had the talent to play music by ear. Dina would hear a song and then play it on her double keyboard organ. Dina loved to travel with Mike in their motor home as well as trips to the Netherlands and Mexico. After Mike passed she took trips with her daughters and called us the three musketeers. Sadly, the last year was difficult for her and she grew tired.
         

It broke our heart to lose you
But you didn’t go alone

For a part of us went with you
The day you were called home

You left us beautiful memories
Your love is still our guide

And though we cannot see you
You are always by our side.

Rest peacefully mom we will always miss you.
