May 30, 2020 - Langdon, Alberta
Deanna Budgell of Langdon, AB, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at the age of 38 years.
Deanna was born in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada on April 6, 1982. She spent most of her life in Ontario but eventually made her way out to Calgary, Alberta in the summer of 2016.
Deanna studied at Wilfred Laurier University in Brantford Ontario. Here she studied human rights and diversity, contemporary studies and criminology. Deanna had a passion for social justice and you would often hear her advocating for marginalized groups and people.
Deanna met Tyler MacLeod just 5 days before she learned her cancer came back. He didn’t waiver and stuck by her side and eventually moved to a beautiful acreage just outside of Langdon, Alberta. He cared deeply for Deanna.
She was a member of Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC) and was apart of many Pancreatic Cancer groups via social media. She received support and also supported many people with the same struggles. Deanna shared her journey through facebook and many people came to know her and her journey this way. She was honest and raw and showed the beautiful and ugly parts of her journey. She was brave.
Deanna accomplished much throughout her lifetime and was particularly proud of her kiddo Izzy Budgell who turned out to be the most incredible human being. Deanna was proud herself for overcoming many obstacles in life and proud of how she handle herself throughout this difficult journey.
Deanna had a passion for people! She was an inspiration for many. Even though she was going through the most difficult time of her life she was able to inspire and touch the lives of many.
She loved music! She had a huge passion for old school hip hop and deep love for Bob Marley. She loved to sing, leaving us many beautiful songs on facebook to remember her by. She loved the mountains and the ocean. She loved to go for drives with her partner Tyler and she managed to squeeze one last ride with him just before she left us. She lived life fully to the end. That is why we loved her so much.
Deanna’s most memorable vacation was when she drove to Tofino with her partner Tyler on the day she got news her cancer came back but she always loved her trips to Newfoundland to see her parents, family and friends.
Deanna loved The Traveling Wilburys and wished that At the End of the Line would be played at her celebration of life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMVjToYOjbM. Deanna and her sister Danielle loved this song and also shared a love for music and seeing live music together.
She will be most remembered for her courage, positive attitude, and love for life, determination, and passion for social justice, activism and her witty sense of humour.
Besides her loving partner Tyler and his children Ryan and Natalee; Deanna is survived by her father Ivan Budgell of Gander Newfoundland. Her amazing kid Izzy Budgell of Langdon Alberta; sister Danielle Budgell of Calgary, Alberta; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Deanna had a huge network of friends she loved and who loved her throughout her life. Her sweet mother Pauline Budgell of Gander, Newfoundland passed away just weeks before Deanna.
