Obituary of Rowan David Evan POORE

October 27, 2008 – Calgary, Alberta

May 26, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Rowan Poore of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at the age of 11 years.

Rowan was born 10 weeks prematurely in Calgary, AB, on October 27, 2008.

Rowan attended Calgary Quest School for special needs children, where he will be lovingly missed by all of his fellow students and all of the administration. All will remember him fondly, riding the adapted bike to each classroom to see his friends.

Rowan had a passion for anything musical. His favorite day in class was music therapy. He loved going to “Gee’s” (Grandma Carolyn) house and listening to all kinds of music; from Hank Williams Sr. to Iron Maiden, singing in his kind of harmony with Gee to every song. Rowan also loved when his mom Amber, and step dad Trevor would play Rock Band in the living room, he would kick and squeal to all of his favorite songs.

Rowan’s most memorable vacation was any time he went to Papa’s and Nana Joanne’s house in B.C.  He loved road trips very much and it was always so relaxing at their home.  He would sleep in, play in the pool, go to the lake, ride on Papa’s boat, and lay in the sunshine.

Rowan will be most remembered for his laughter, wide toothy smile, and long eyelashes.  He would grab your heart with a look and a smile and never let it go.

Rowan is survived by his mother Amber West and  fatherTrevor Skarr of Calgary, AB; his step-sister Parker Skarr, of Edmonton, AB; his  Grandma “Gee” Carolyn Chaisson of Calgary, AB; papa and nana, David and Joanne West of Wycliffe, BC; great-grandma Norma Gummo of Oyen, AB; great-granny Eleanor Miller of Penticton, BC; aunt Trisha (Vanessa) West of Carleton Pl, ON; uncle Darcy (Tanis) West of Hanna, AB; grandpa Barry (Margaret) Skarr of Duchess, AB; aunt Tracey Skarr with cousins Jeremiah and Jamielyn of Red Deer, AB; cousin Dayton West in Colorado USA; as well as numerous great aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends.

Rowan was predeceased by his nana Dianne West in January 2003 and nana “Roo” Amber Kittler in December 2019.

Those wishing to pay their respects, the family will be organising a celebration of life at a later date, which they will announce in the near future.  The family does not wish for flowers; instead they ask you contact Rowan’s mom Amber West to send donations to his 2nd favorite place, his special needs school.
