Obituary of Terrence Garfield DOWDALL

September 6, 1951 – Smiths Falls, Ontario

June 5, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terrance “Terry “ Dowdall at the age of 68 years.

Terry was born in Smiths Falls, ON, where he grew up playing hockey and football and made lifelong friends. He met his future partner, Marsha Jackson in Smiths Falls in 1975, and together they felt the call of the west and moved to Calgary, AB, in 1976. In Calgary, they were blessed with the birth of their beloved son,  Jeffrey “Jeff “ Garrett and daughter, Sarah Kristen. Terry was employed with Coca-Cola for over twenty years as the warehouse foreman. He worked another ten years for Enersul, and for Jordan’s flooring for a number of years before retiring in 2011. Terry, with his family enjoyed the wilderness of Alberta with many fishing and camping trips, where he was sure to always have a mountain of wood chopped and a fire burning . He was beloved by a lifetime of pet dogs and cats. Terry, his wife, daughter and son-in-law fulfilled a long time dream in 2014, to travel to Ireland where he felt at home in the culture and more  importantly the pubs. Terry was a generous, and kind soul with a quick whit and a plethora of “dad” jokes. He was instantly liked by those who met him and could always share a laugh. As a lover of music he amassed an impressive record collection over the years.

He will be greatly missed by family,  friends, dog and grand dog and many grand cats. Terry is predeceased by his parents Garfield and Margaret Dowdall and his beloved son in-law,  Michael Douglas Cooke.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Terrence’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
