Obituary of Harry William CHUPIK

June 1, 1951 – Canora, Saskatchewan
June 10, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Harry Chupik, beloved husband of Denise Chupik (nee Kleisinger) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at the age of 69 years.

When Harry left the farm in the summer of 69’ at 17 years old he had no idea how far $17 could take him. Harry often shared vivid stories about his humble upbringing and hardships. Although a lot of the stories were uphill both ways there was truth, wisdom and life lessons we will keep close to our hearts, teach and pass along. Harry wasted no time, only 3 days into the trip when he met his beautiful wife Denise. Love at first sight.

After working some jobs Harry saw that plumbing was something that provided stability and opportunity. He had a family on the go and moved up the ranks of a Calgary home builder, running their plumbing division as a second year apprentice. The good old days! He graduated from SAIT as a Master Plumber and Gasfitter. Harry’s passion was being Chairman and co-founder of Canyon Plumbing & Heating Ltd. Harry was our fearless leader for 42 years and will be greatly missed by beloved staff and industry.

Harry enjoyed cars and golf but above all he enjoyed being with people. He loved and cherished Denise of 48 years and was a romantic to the end. Holding hands and saying I love you before bed.  His children, grandchildren, family and friends were everything to him. He always loved to share with you what was going on in his life (often funny) and always had a genuine interest in what you were doing. He was always engaging and had a way of leaving you feeling energized after a brief or epic conversation. Everyone adored Harry and he will be remembered for all his love, kindness, storytelling, generosity and willingness to help. Harry’s sense of humor was infectious and he would always light up a room. He never wanted to see anyone struggle and he had a talent for motivating, mentoring and empowering people to be their best. He wanted you to succeed. Harry had an amazing work ethic and drive and he always did things the right way with the utmost integrity. Harry believed in a firm handshake and looking sharp. His smile and his kind warm eyes could always fill your heart and make you feel at home and welcomed.

Harry loved Phoenix and being so competitive he tried so hard to get a hole in one! He sadly never got one and we would often talk about the dream of what we’d do if he got one. He travelled many places and shared many special memories that will last with his family and live within their hearts forever. He took advantage of opportunities and created moments, he planned ahead, saw a vision and always seized the day. We laughed with him that he lived life in “Harryland” and he loved it too. He was so happy to be alive and lived his life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by all and was truly one of the good guys.

Besides his loving wife, Denise, Harry is survived by his son and girlfriend, Jason and Kate; daughter Yvonne; six grandchildren, Ryan, Sophia, Max, Tyson, Brody and Bradley; five brothers and two sisters, Walter (Liza), Michael, Alexander (Angie), Terry (Miranda), Russell (Mel), Rosemarie (Bill) and Carolyn (Glen); brothers-in-law, Don (Doreen), Marty and Len Kleisinger. He will be missed by his pets Gracie, Gucci and Daisy.

In lieu of flowers, please consider helping someone, improving a situation or reconnecting. Harry always loved helping his family, employees and friends and it gave him great joy to see the gift of giving while he was alive. “It’s a great life, if you don’t weaken”
