Obituary of Norma Ruth TERSIGNI (nee Bazay)

October 29, 1949 – Winnipeg, Manitoba

June 9, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

The family of Norma Tersigni of Calgary, AB, announces her passing on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at the age of 70 years.  She will be remembered as such a vibrant, fun-loving and giving person, and her friends and family will miss her dearly.

Norma grew up in Cobourg, ON and she loved to travel (in style). As a teenager she enjoyed visiting family in Norway, and later as a student at Queen's University (BA'72), an internship in Venice sparked a life-long passion for Italy and eternal friendships. She returned to Venice many times throughout her life.

Norma completed Teachers College through the University of Toronto ('73). Upon graduation, she married Thomas Bainbridge (d.2011) of Chatham, ON and the couple relocated to Calgary, AB. Norma embarked on a rewarding career as an elementary school teacher for the Calgary Board of Education. Following a brief retirement in 2005, she began a new adventure, teaching in the ESL program at Bow Valley College. Norma admired and respected her students and they loved her. She will be missed by her life-long friends from the CBE, Scarboro Book Club #1 and the Calgary Italian Choir.

Norma lived by “Buon Cibo, Buon Vino, Buoni Amici”. She was a trend-setter, a voracious reader, a lover of art and music, a quilter and a violinist, a wonderful friend and sister, loving mother and doting grandmother. We love you Nonna.

Norma is survived by her husband Antonio Tersigni, and children, Erin Bainbridge (Shawn Stasiuk), David Bainbridge (Olga) and Elizabeth Bainbridge. She was a devoted Nonna to Kiedis, Audrie, Sophie, Ellie, John, Thomas, Ryker and Magnus, and countless nieces and nephews. Norma is also survived by her best friend and sister Lorraine Dickie (Ian), brothers, Leonard, Lloyd (Cathy), and Brian (Cheryl); and sister-in-law Viviane Bazay. She joins her cherished parents, John and Sophie Bazay (nee Anderson); and brothers, Robert (Shirley), Allan, and David.
