June 15, 2020 - Calgary,  Alberta

Norma-Jean Ann McLaren passed away peacefully Monday morning June 15th with her children at her side, after her April 29th diagnosis of cancer.

Norma-Jean Ann Haworth was born September 23rd, 1940, she married Malcolm Edward McLaren Oct 2nd, 1958 and through thirty-four years of marriage, they had five children.

Norma was devoutly religious and was very active in the Catholic Church and in her personal relationship with God. She volunteered for Saint Vincent de Paul in a number of roles including delivering hampers and managing the phone calls for over twenty-five years.  She had a big heart for all those in need and would take special care to ensure they did not get left behind.

Braille became her career path as she volunteered, then worked as a braille transcriber and proof-reader for the Alberta Government.

Always giving, Norma joined a reading program where she would read with children at the library to help them develop better skills.  She also supported a number of children overseas through donations.

Norma enjoyed horseback riding and travel. She travelled to Holland with her daughter Corri and took a trip to Japan to visit Michael and his family living there.

Our mom lived a good life dealing with all the challenges through positive action. We love her very much and will miss her deeply.

God Bless you mom, be at peace.

Norma is survived by her sister Valerie (John) Zuk; her sons, Michael (Esmie), and Kevin (Rhiannon), her daughter Corri-Lynne (Edward), and their father Malcolm McLaren. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Shauna, Shane, Mitchell, Christina, Dallas, Devin, Daniel, and Leanne; three great-grandchildren, and her pet parakeet Misty bluebird. She was predeceased by her brother Donald Haworth (Kathy) and two of her children: Darren Peter and Leslie-Ann McLaren.
