Massimo Novati of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully in the company of his family on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the age of 61 years.

Massimo was born in Hull, QC on August 3, 1958. He had a forty-three year military career starting in 1975 with the Royal Canadian Engineers in Montreal, QC and ending in 2018 with the Canadian Armed Forces in Calgary, AB. In Calgary, he joined the Reserve and later the Regular Army, traveling to Cyprus, Egypt, and Germany. He completed officer training in Chilliwack, BC, attaining the rank of Captain, and finished his career as a recruiting officer at the Recruiting Centre in downtown Calgary. After retirement, he drove Community Shuttle Buses for Calgary City Transit.

Massimo had a passion for firearms and armaments, and was an active member of numerous shooting groups and military organizations. He was a member of the King’s Own Calgary Regiment (KOCR), Lord Strathcona Horse (LDSH) and Royal Canadian Dragoons (RCD).

Massimo is survived by his father Cesare Novati, and his loving girlfriend Kathryn Green, as well as aunts, uncles, numerous cousins and friends in Calgary, Ottawa, Montreal and Italy.  Massimo was predeceased by his mother, Elisa (nee Da Sie) in November 2019.
