Owen BUHL

Obituary of Owen Tracy BUHL

March 21, 1999 – Calgary, Alberta
June 21, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Our loving son and brother, Owen Buhl of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at the age of 21 years.

Born in Calgary, AB, Owen graced our lives when he came into the world on March 21, 1999.

Owen, we remember your creativity, unique sense of humour, and deep sense of thinking. Our boy was kind and gentle in every way, and you could always find him snuggling or playing with one of the family dogs.

We especially admired your honesty Owen and it showed great maturity. And while hard to hear it sometimes, your candour was refreshing. Not to be rushed, Owen marched to the beat of his own drum.

He graduated from Bishop Grandin High School in June 2017, and continually amazed us with his knowledge of everything from earth’s natural elements to the reaches of outer space.

You could show him a picture of the most obscure dinosaur and he could tell you the name. And better yet, as a talented artist, he could draw any dinosaur with remarkable accuracy.

Owen was particularly accomplished at flying his RC planes and enjoyed building and rebuilding them. And while he wasn’t fond of cooking, he loved eating, and was exceptionally adventurous when trying new foods.

Our most memorable getaways were camping at Gull Lake because he loved being in nature. A great swimmer, you could be sure to find Owen on the beach or in the water.

As a baby, Away in a Manger put him to sleep after the second verse. Growing into a young man he turned to classic rock, and any given time you could hear some oldies but goodies coming from his head phones.

Owen is lovingly remembered by his mother Kerri Robins, father David Buhl, sister Rhys, brother Callum, and his two mini schnauzers, Checkers and Cinder “the mini’s”, all from Calgary.

Owen is also survived by his grandfather Raymond Buhl, and grandmother Cynthia Robins, along with aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his aunty Tracy Robins, grandmother June Buhl and grandfather George Robins.

Owen, it’s comforting to know you have aunty Tracy to guide you and we look forward to the many signs we know you’ll send us. We love you up to infinity…and back. Love always from us all.

Tears in Heaven

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?

I'll find my way through night and day
'Cause I know I just can't stay here in heaven

Time can bring you down, time can bend your knees
Time can break your heart, have you begging please, begging please

Beyond the door there's peace I'm sure
And I know there'll be no more tears in heaven

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven
