Obituary of Carter Lee ENSIGN

February 16, 1949 – Carmangay, Alberta
June 22, 2020

Carter Lee Ensign, beloved husband of thirty-three years of Jo-Ann Ensign of Canmore, AB, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020 at the age of 71 years.

Carter was born in Carmangay, AB. He was well known and greatly respected within the oil and gas industry for consulting, as well as road and lease construction. He practised his skilled workmanship for over forty-five years in Alberta. Carter was a loving dad and husband. He was always there to give sound advice and always there to lend an ear and help selflessly whenever he could. His faith in God helped him in wisdom and was a constant for him in life. Carter had a passion for truth and knowledge and sought this in life. He was ever the avid reader and a splendid story teller. He loved road trips and combined his hobbies to create interesting stories that were much admired not only by friends and family, but also by all who heard them. Carter will be dearly remembered for his kindness, warmth, and his loving and compassionate spirit.

The Broken Chain ~ By Ron Tranmer

We little knew the day that
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories.
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one
the chain will link again.

Carter is survived by his loving wife of thirty-three years, Jo-Ann, four sons and three daughters-in-law, Todd and Bobbi of Grande Prairie, AB, Troy of Cranbrook, BC, Jason and Isha Pytlarz of Cochrane, AB and Cory and Brenda Pytlarz of Calgary, AB;  fifteen grandchildren, Kolton, Josi, Daneri, Blake, Ashley, Seth, John, Sophia, Jule, Nixon, Nash, Holly, Michael, Thomas and Pearson.
