Obituary of Margaret WILSON

May 25, 1936 – Yorkton, Saskatchewan

June 24, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Wilson announce her passing on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at the age of 84 years.

Marg will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Carol (Richard) and Diane; son, Bryan (Liana); grandchildren, Rachel, Damien, Morgan, and Makenna; and great-grandson Forrest.

She was predeceased by her husband Harvey and her daughter Barbara.

Marg was born in Yorkton, SK in 1936. In 1956, she married Harvey and the two of them set out on an adventure to relocate from Saskatchewan to British Columbia. Along the way, they stopped in Calgary, and never left. Marg and Harvey settled in and started their family later that same year with the birth of the first of four children.

When the children were younger, summer holidays consisted of road trips back to Saskatchewan to visit family. Later on, those road trips became family adventures, exploring various places in the United States. Eventually the road trips shifted to summers at the trailer, first at Lake Newell and then later, in Sundre.

In the mid 1970’s, Marg began working with ceramics. This new hobby quickly developed into a passion and she decided to open her own studio. Village Ceramics opened its doors in 1978, and for the next forty-two years, served as the conduit through which she shared her love of ceramics with generations of students. Marg’s commitment to her craft led her to become a founding member of Mountain Bells, the Calgary chapter of the International Association of Duncan Certified Teachers (IADCCT).

Over the years, Marg also found opportunities to travel. Some of her favorite places to go were Las Vegas, Maui, and Fairmont Hot Springs.

At different times, she picked up some new hobbies as well, including jigsaw puzzles, watching curling, reading, gardening, knitting, needlepoint and playing bridge.

A Celebration of Marg’s Life will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Marg’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
