Obituary of Mary Lydia RANDEN

May 30, 1924 - Halkirk, Alberta

July 5, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Mary Randen, loving mother of Betty and grandmother of Stacy (Debbie), passed away on July 5, 2020 at the age of 96 years.

Mary was raised on a farm in Halkirk, Alberta. Being the second oldest in a family of 13 she had a lot to do even as a child. She moved to Calgary at 20 years old, met and married George Randen.

Mary was a widow at 39 years old with 3 girls to raise alone, so she went to work. Mary never complained, just did what she felt she had to do.

When I think of my Mom  I think strength and courage; she had a beautiful smile that is embedded in my heart. Mary was a gentle, loving Mom, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Mary is also survived by sisters, Joanne of Cranbrook, BC, Norma of Woodbridge, ON and Rose of Edmonton, AB; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George; and daughters Florence and Lorraine.

Special thank you to the palliative team and nurses at PLC and all those at Whitehorn seniors’ residence for taking such good care of Mom.
