Obituary of Arthur "Dennis" William EKLUND

May 31, 1940 – Daysland, Alberta
July 4, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with deepest regret we announce the sudden passing of Dennis, a personable, fun loving guy who loved golf, music and just enjoying life in retirement. He had recently turned 80 but felt more like 60.

Dennis was the second son of Thelma and Ted Eklund raised in Camrose until leaving for Alberta College in Edmonton. He then left for the University of Idaho, in Boise where he graduated in Business Administration.  He met and married his wonderful wife of fifty-six years, Carole Morgan, a talented home economics teacher and returned to Calgary where he was employed with Travelers Insurance Company for many years. They were then transferred to Toronto and Travelers became Zurich Insurance where he became branch manager of the Head Office. After more than thirty years he was transferred back to Calgary where he retired.

Many cold winters here were spent in their Arizona home where they loved to entertain family and friends. They also enjoyed travelling and spent time on several cruises. Dennis was a truly compassionate person and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Besides his loving wife, he leaves behind his sister, Gladys Burnett, his sisters-in-law, Kathy Eklund , Jacquie and husband Joe Wickley; also brother-in-law Tom Morgan and wife Michelle;  and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends  in the USA and Canada. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Mel in 2007.

Due to Covid, there will be no formal service but a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Dennis’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.   If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 – 14th Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 Telephone: (403) 264-5549, www.heartandstroke.ca. or to the charity of one’s choice.
