Obituary of Kendall Gale SPIELMAN

September 1, 1958 – Calgary, Alberta
July 8, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Kendall Spielman of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at the age of 61 years.

Our family and the world lost an amazing person when Kendall suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday.  A proud third generation Calgarian, she was a strong, organized and a determined lady who would set a goal and push to achieve it. A more compassionate, generous person than most people deserved, she was always free with her time, volunteering with her first love, Air Cadets and with the 783 Wing RCAFA.  Whenever a group needed someone, she was among the first to put up her hand and say count me in. Rappelling down thirty story buildings for charity and taking in exchange students was just all in a day’s work. For many years she worked in the oil industry and then joined the City of Calgary for the last ten years.

Kendall had the uncanny knack of calming situations and being the peacemaker, even from a young age.  She could see the funny, bizarre side of things and could diffuse the matter shrinking it from mountain to anthill.  She had a sense of humour that knew no bounds and could tell a story that entertained everyone.  Kendall always had a huge smile and cheery outlook, no matter what the circumstances were.

Kendall was an avid reader and lover of books, often having five on the go at one time.  She loved nothing better than seeing a child sitting in a corner with a book and often spoke of setting up a program for little ones to learn and explore through reading.  This is a project that we will pursue to fulfill her dream.

Her love of animals carried on throughout her life and she always had a fin, feather, or furry creature for company.  She has been the rock for our family throughout all the medical issues that beset her dad and sister Karen.   However, even rocks crumble and she developed FrontoLobe Dementia, which put her on a different journey.

She leaves behind her mother Beverley, sister Karen, and brother Keith (Nadine), niece Toni (Adam) and great-niece Adalynn), KJ -Keith Jr. (Ashley) and Andrew (Kearra).  She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins and leaves behind her beloved cat Taz.  She was predeceased by her father (Allen) ten years ago to the week.
