Condolences
3rd Party Provided Condolence:
I received a call from Rachel [Monette] Poulin, saying that she & her family bought a young white spruce [2-3 years ] & planted it in memory of your mom In Rachel's daughter's acreage, near Hearst, Ont .Rachel was touched that when Claudette & Sandy were travelling through, They would always call & stop for a visit.
Many Cochrane folk will remember Claudette for her contributions to local Seniors. She was presIdent of Cochrane Fifty and Over Club until it dissolved. She worked diligently to provide recreational opportunities for Seniors in that organization as well as in the surrounding community. Examples were the trips she planned to venues like the Calgary Zoo and the Bar U Ranch at Longview.
In 2011, Cochrane Fifty and Over Club moved from their small meeting place on First Avenue to Spray Lake Sawmill Family Sport Centre. Claudette was a key person in the transition process as she worked with the group planning the move. For this service and for her contribution to Cochrane Fifty and Over Club she was awarded a lifetime membership to Seniors on the Bow, the new Seniors organization.
Thank you, Claudette, for all you have done to enhance the lives of Cochrane Seniors.
Claudette and Jackie are my elder sisters and they both guided and supported me during life challenges, simply by being there, by sharing their endless humour and love, by living a life full of adventure, by always being there for me. Despite the many challenges that came her way, Claudette, the fierce warrior always prevailed. Her life exploration began in Timmins, on to Bralorne in the wild and ruggedly beautiful mountains of British Columbia that she so loved, back to the wilds of Timmins :-) and South End, onwards to the far north arctic hamlet of Norman Wells in the Northwest Territories and on to Calgary where she settled, close again to the Rockies that spoke to her soul.
There has never been a day in my life that Claudette was not in it. While we were separated for a time by miles, she was always a towering presence in our family. Her accomplishments are legendary and a personal source of inspiration, driving school buses over icy mountain roads, coming in 2nd in the Alberta provincial championship, helping out military verterans as a volunteer in the Legion and giving of herself to seniors, all with humour and grace. I still hear in my mind her infectious laugh, and the joy in her eyes when she jitterbugged to a tune in the Legion, when she had her family and friends around her.
I will miss her every day but there is consolation in knowing that she will remain in our hearts and that another star lit up the night sky, shining light to keep us on the path that will in time bring us back to her.
The family has expressed very well their sentiments re: Mom & Sister. From my perspective, our lifelong journey has been filled with so many adventures ,too many to recount . No matter who we lived with, we came together. She was the first person I saw in the morning & the last person I spoke to at night throughout our childhood & into our teens. We shared a bed, classroom,books..She eventually introduced me to my future husband, I didn't have to leave home.
Life did take us on divergent paths but we always stayed in touch. Nothing could break the bond She was my one and only sister & i won the lottery when she was born. I will miss our calls & visits; We have so many memories with our families. In Ontario, Alberta and California...
I love you so much Claude. You deserve to rest after all your pain and suffering We will be together again someday [and as our mom would have said: you know where..]
Love you. Jackie
Our deepest sympathies to the families, our hearts and prayers are with you all.
Love from Chester and Martha Mjolsness
Claudette was such a wonderful person, a great Mom and fantastic friend. She was always willing to help others and asked for nothing in return.
I'm sure that she would want us all to celebrate the good that she had and lived to the fullest. We can all be thankful that we had her in our lives and continue to remember her as the great woman that she was!
I will always remember Claudette for her good nature and great sense of humour. She was truly a joy to know and we all feel fortunate to have gotten to know her ( thru Cadets, meetings after meetings after meetings, endless years of fundraising ... making us play BINGO so we can see it from the other side .. LOL, parties and our special luncheons and girls' night out or just getting together for coffee).
Our deepest condolences to you all and your families during this time. Your mother was an amazing force of nature and she will truly be missed !!!
Sending you our love,
Bob, Kirsten, Chris and Natasha Mikelait
Our deepest sympathies to the family. Our hearts and prayers are with you all. From Doreen Houle and family
I’m sorry to hear of Claudette’s passing .. she would play Yahtzee with my mom for hours and fully enjoyed her company! Condolences from the Demers family in Timmins, Ont Sincerely Ginette
Aunt Claudette was certainly determined, adventurous and loved the outdoor family gatherings. From the early days of camping at Northern Ontario lakes with the whole clan, to Gogama, and later travelling with the RV to visit our scattered family across the country. It was a life lived with intent. She helped to bring some of us together more often and left us with fond memories. Aunt Claudette is loved and will be missed.
Sincere sympathies to all our family and extended family.
Sandy
So bery thankful to have had the honor to had sharef time with you, your husband and Leah my best friend when you guys came and even got to meet the furbabies, rest in peace and always remain a beautiful memory held within my heart
My dearest niece, thinking of you always my heart aches for you.
My fondest memory of our time shared was camping with the girl guides. Causing mischief along the way., swimming, camp fires and sing alongs were some of our favourite things.
You can camp as much as you like now and no one to tell you it’s time to pack up and get ready for bed. Rest In Peace and sing your favourite song out loud.
All my love Claudette, Terry Jenkins of North Bay, Ontario
Someone so special can never be forgotten, may her soul rest in peace. Please be strong for her while she rests.

My deepest condolences to Scott and Tracy and your family on the loss of your Mom, Claudette. I knew Claudette through #10 Squadron Timmins Kiwanis Royal Canadian Air Cadets. She was our Supply Officer and was kept very busy outfitting growing Cadets.
We shared many laughs together and enjoyed each other's company. Claudette was well liked by our staff, the parents and cadets.
I will cherish my memories of Claudette. May you Rest In Peace my friend and military colleague.
