Obituary of Frances Kay JONES (nee Gow)

July 10, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with much sadness, along with many loving memories, that we share the news of Fran’s passing on Friday, July 10, 2020 at the age of 79 years, after her battle with cancer.

Fran was born in Lethbridge, AB on April 23, 1941. She graduated from LCI High School and went on to become a Lab Tech at the Lethbridge Municipal Hospital. Fran later moved to Calgary to work at the Colonel Belcher Hospital.

Fran was always involved in sports, she particularly enjoyed bowling and met her husband, Bill through this shared love, they would have celebrated their 50th anniversary in Nov 2020. Fran participated in several national five-pin bowling championships; she also enjoyed basketball, synchronized swimming and lap swimming. Her active lifestyle allowed her to run around and play with her grandchildren, and at the age of seventy began her quest to master butterfly in swimming.

Fran always loved animals and they were always an important part of her life; dogs, cats, rabbits, turtles and of course horses. Everyone who knew her knew about her horses first.

Fran was an amazing woman with a zest for life, a positive attitude and a youthful spirit. Her friends and family remember her energy, positivity, wonderful smile, great attitude and snappy sense of humour.

Fran is survived by her loving husband of forty-nine years Bill, her son and daughter-in-law Darryl and Lisa Jones, daughter and son-in-law Deanne and Steve Sims, and grandchildren, Logan Jones and Kenzie Jones. Fran is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and Doug Cooper of Medicine Hat, as well as numerous family members and friends.

Fran was predeceased by her parents, Sadie and Howard Gow of Lethbridge, AB.
