Obituary of Ida LOGULLO
April 27, 1941 – Sartano, Italy
July 18, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta
Peacefully and surrounded by her family, Ida LoGullo (nee DeCiancio) passed away at home on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the age of 79 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband of fifty-seven years, Emilio; daughters, Ada (Jim) and Maria (Jeff); grandchildren, Madison, Emily, Anthony, and Lucas as well as numerous family members, relatives, and friends in Calgary, Toronto and Italy. She was predeceased by her brothers, Gaetano, Francesco and her parents, Achille and Maria.
Ida was born on April 27, 1941 on the family homestead, Dominicello, near Sartano, Italy. She has fond memories of growing up in a large family with her siblings, Gaetano (Ida), Adolfo (Santina), Carmela (Emilio), Oreste (Lidia), Francesco (Elena) and Luigi (Franca). Ida quickly took on the responsibility of being the caregiver of many of her nieces and nephews. She often shared stories of her upbringing and although it was hard work, she had joyous memories with her family.
Ida immigrated to Canada in 1963 to marry the love of her life, Emilio LoGullo. She was warmly welcomed by the Corbelli and LoGullo families who quickly became her family in Calgary. Ida worked hard but she looked forward to getting dressed up to go to her job and work along side family and life-long friends. Good memories were made living in Ingelwood where they happily welcomed and raised their two daughters.
Ida was very proud of Ada and Maria as they completed their university education, married Jim and Jeff who she loved like sons and was especially blessed when her grandchildren were born. She adored her grandchildren and loved watching all their sporting and academic accomplishments.
As an Italian Nana, Ida had many talents. She could sew, craft, knit, garden and of course, cook and bake delicious multi-course meals with love and happiness. Ida’s greatest joy was to make her family and home the best it could be. She always welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and big plates of food.
Ida had a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She took on each challenge with poise and determination. Her inspiration, unwavering strength, and bravery will live on through the legacy of all of her children and grandchildren. Ida will always be lovingly remembered and hold a special place in all of our hearts.
We love you so much and your presence with us in person will always be missed, but will never be forgotten as you live everyday within all of us.
